The choice to embark on a path of healing is not a venture meant to be taken lightly. Healing requires vulnerability, courage, and open-mindedness. If now is the right time for you to embark on your journey towards healing, liberation, and self-discovery, I would be honored to join you.

As a psychologist of color, I understand that it often feels like these mental health spaces were not created with us in mind. For this reason, I aspire to create judgement-free spaces for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). I offer an integrated and eclectic approach that centers around your needs through strength-based, intersectional, and social justice frameworks. I aim to create an environment that is attuned to cultivating your vision for yourself. Together, we work towards healing and liberation at a pace that feels right for you. I support my clients in finding healthier coping techniques through awareness, skill building, and accountability.

I work primarily with adolescents and adults. My areas of focus include identity development, life transitions, marginalization and oppression, grief, relationship issues, positive character development, anxiety, depression, burnout, and perfectionism.

Let’s work together towards getting you to a place where you feel more ready and excited to go out and face everything that life has to offer. Please reach out for a free 15-minute consultation.

“I am inspired by human connection, our connection to ourselves and others. I believe that our connection can be enhanced, and we can heal when we can talk about and set free the things we keep bottled up. It takes courage, strength, and vulnerability to share your story (the good, the bad, and the ugly).

I am honoured to offer a safe and empathetic space that opens the door to your healing journey. Through a strength-based and collaborative approach, my goal is to create a meaningful therapeutic connection to help you find clarity, understand your emotions, realize your patterns, and move forward to live a life you love.

I have a keen interest in life transitions, communication, shame, self-compassion, self-awareness, relationships, and interracial couples.

I blend various therapeutic approaches, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness.

I believe in the mind-body connection and that emotion can flow with movement. With that said, if traditional office therapy does not appeal to you, we can go for a walk and talk.”

Angie is currently a practicum student in the Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She is a former Special Education teacher with an Education degree from the University of Alberta. She also has 15 years of practice as an RMT.

Angie keeps a life rich with her adult children, critters, sports, friends, podcasts, any opportunity for laughter, and to learn/try something new with humble curiosity.

“I trust that people are resilient, creative problem solvers and that experiencing genuine care and acceptance can facilitate healing and desired change. I want to work alongside you and honour your journey while focusing on your agency and strengths.

I believe that what can make our challenges difficult is that we feel isolated and alone in them. My goal is to have you feel cared for and safe while navigating such situations. Through practices of mindfulness and compassion my goal is to help you shift your perspective, self-talk, and relationship with yourself so that you are able to approach difficulties from a refreshed mindset.

Therapy is hard work. Asking for help is hard work. I am honoured to be a part of a client’s journey through life adjustments, and I will work hard with my clients while we navigate difficult things together. I believe that people have the inherent wisdom and intuition to know what they need and often times a safe and compassionate environment helps to spark change.

I am currently a Masters of Counselling Student at City University in Calgary, Alberta. I am honoured to be doing my counselling practicum at Vivid psychology and to work with clients from all walks of life. I pursued counselling because I have worked in a variety of helping professions and I am fascinated by people, their stories, and their resilience.

And now for a little bit about me. I try to weave wellness into all aspects of my life, and I like to take life slowly when I can. I enjoy being outside hiking, cross-country skiing, paddle boarding, canoeing, and walking my dog. I love heavy metal music. I practice weightlifting, yoga, and meditation. I love to cook, garden, spend time with close friends, and to me feeling curious is one of my favourite experiences.”
